The Faculty became an autonomous JU unit in 2001. It includes the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations, the Institute of Polish Diaspora and Ethnic Studies and the Institute of Regional Studies, which focuses on the research related to North America and Europe, Latin America and Russia, Middle and Far East. In 2005 the Faculty took over the School of Polish Language and Culture.
